Helpful Tips: Purchasing a Tuxedo or Suit

We often have customers ask us if they should purchase or rent a tuxedo or suit for themselves for a particular event. Usually, it is better to rent, but how do you know if you should purchase a suit or tuxedo? Well there are a couple factors that can help you decide what is best for you. 

We have certain customers who attend a lot of black tie events or have a lot coming up for them, and it may actually be more inconvenient to rent a tuxedo or suit. This also goes for the person who has to attend a lot of upcoming weddings for family or friends. Some customers also want their garments to fit a specific way, and only minor alterations can be done to rental garments. Even if you just want to have a tuxedo or suit for yourself just in case, there are a couple of benefits to purchasing.

You will never need to worry about having to find somewhere to rent a tuxedo for any future events. Renting requires that you have to get measured, you have to return to try on the garments, and you may or may not need alterations. Altertations can be done on rental garments, but typically nothing major. If you purchase your own garments, you may only need it tailored once to your liking and you will not have to worry about it again. Everyone has different body types as well and sometimes certain people have issues finding clothing that fits them from the start. If you purchase your garments and have them altered, you won't have to worry about it again.

Helpful Tips: Getting Measured

When you're planning your wedding there are a lot of details that need to be taken care of before your big day. On our end, it is important to let your party know when they should all be measured by. Renting a tuxedo is a little different than buying a dress. We need to have all the measurements so that we can order the tuxedos in for your scheduled pick up date, which is 2 to 3 days before the wedding date. So when is the best time for the guys to get measured? It simply depends on the date of the wedding.

Typically, we need all the guys to be already measured 2 months before the wedding at the latest, but if your wedding is in May, June or July we need them measured by March 1st. The height of prom season and wedding season is in May and June, so it is very important to be measured early. We have a high volume of tuxedos going out and want all of the tuxedos reserved for your special day ahead of time.

If you are still wondering when you need to get measured, just know that there is nothing wrong with getting measured early. We can always re-measure you if you feel like you've changed in weight and that way we will still have the tuxedo reserved.
